Space Settlement Design Contest 2005 Results


Statistics

This year we received 109 submissions from 586 students sponsored by 34 teachers. Entries came from India, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Romania, Turkey and 13 states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Winners

Grand Prize

There was a tie for the grand prize this year. Temis submitted by Horia-Mihail and MARS submitted by the team of Manoj and Sathish shared this years top honor. Horia-Mihail was awarded the top hornor for scientific emphasis while Manoj and Sathish were honored for engineering emphasis. Horia-Mihail, from Iasi, Romania was sponsored by three instructors, M. Koriloff, M. Constantinescu and Dr. Teodorescu. Manoj and Sathish working independently, are students in Tamil Nadu, India. Congratulations to these young students for such outstanding research projects.

Note: for the rest of the prizes there were individual, team (consisting of 2-6 students) and large group (from 7-25 students), for two groups: 6-9th grade and 10-12th grade. There were two additional categories for Artistic merit and Literary merit.
