Space Settlement Art Contest: Aquarius One

Aquarius One

by Alex Aurichio
http://www.a2creations.com/
Category: Lunar Settlements

Description: “Aquarius One” by Alex Aurichio is an Advance Moonbase designed to locate, extract and collect huge reservoirs of drinkable water for colonies to follow. Dug into the wall of an existing impact crater, Aquarius One is mostly beneath the surface where the Moon’s crust provides natural shielding from radiation and micro-meteorites. Using a simple Solar still process, a large lenslike cover is placed above an excavated ice-laden meteor and the chamber pressurized. Time and the Sun’s rays melt the ice.

Medium/Tools Used: “Aquarius One” was created using Bryce 6, Poser 6 and Photoshop CS2, as well as numerous props from daz3d.com.
